WEDDING SEASON: The Perfect Wedding Guest Look!

Yes it's around that time of year when you have a stack of wedding invites and potential dresses you need! It's always a pain in the ass trying to figure out a dress that is not skanky but still makes you seem a little sexy, especially if you're a single lady at the wedding. Follow the these tips and you'll be sure to look super sass and stylish as a wedding guest!

1. Where is the wedding???

This is super important, I mean so much revolves around the atmosphere and location. For example, you're probably not going to want to wear a heal to a wedding that's outside on a lawn (you shoe will get stuck in the grass gf!). Make sure what you wear will make you comfortable at the location, like wear a wedge to that outside lawn wedding!

Also your dress matters too. For example don't wear a maxi dress at a wedding outside (dirt, grass stains). In fact I don't reccomend a maxi dress because drunks asses spill drinks on the floor and your super cute maxi dress is going to sweep that crap up like a high school janitor.

Also hair matters on where this wedding is too. Example, you get invited to a wedding in on the beach and you plan on straightening your hair because you look sassy, but that isn't going to help. HELLO, pay attention to the weather. If you're going to be in a moist or humid area plan on wearing your hair up or locking it tight with hair spray, because that shit's going to frizz. And remember, you are not going to a disco, so keep the hair polished and classy, show some respect sister!

2. SHOES

It kills me when women don't go with comfort at a wedding and then you see random heels thrown under tables and classy women with dirty rough looking feet. Wear some shoes you can walk and dance comfortably in.

Ladies, meet "the wedge." Rock that wedge because any dummy can walk and dance in it. It's going to give you more support than a thin heel and you wont up your chances on a sprained ankle while doing the electric slide with the bride and groom.

Trust me, the wedge is the way to go, and you'll wear it with anything else, like some cute skinny's or bell bottoms, wicked chic.

3. THE DRESS

The most important factor to looking sassy and chic at your friend's wedding. When looking for a wedding dress, try finding something that you know you'll wear again to something else. Which is why I recommend a solid dress or something with subtle pattern.

I say solids because it's so easy to play with and jazz up with accessories. Also solid leave room for more interpretations. But that doesn't mean white, black, gray or any other dark colors. Weddings are supposed to be a joyous occasion, so leave you Wednesday Adams look at home.

I like this Rebecca Taylor dress...

It offers a simple look with a pop of color that's not going to be freakishly bright. That with a cute bangle and simple necklace will get you a sexy groomsman to dance with you.

Also play that down for a night out on the town with a smoky eye, black bootie and cropped moto jacket or leather. See.. VERSATILITY.

Don't ant to spend $395? Use this as a guide with my other tips. Bloomingdales has a sale right now with insanely good deals.

I like these others as well...

Foley + Corinna
Alice and Olivia

4. THE FACE

Keep the face simple, go for a natural glow that says classy and not Snookie. Remember you're going to a wedding, this is a time where you dress elegantly and not slutty. Do a simple liner, soft shadow, with a rosey cheek and you're good to go. Honestly, a great tip is to go through a magazine and pick a good face and take it to a girl at the Chanel counter or MAC counter and have her paint you up!

Last Minute Tips:

Rule number one is comfort, and to make sure you are loving your outfit because you're going to be photographed in it and dancing all night long. Make sure you LOVE the dress especially if you're going to be spending a lot of money on it. If you happen to fall in love it a $500 Elizabeth and James dress or DVF cocktail frock, print a picture and walk the mall with it. Chances are H & M or Forever 21 is going to have a knock off or something similar (they always do).

Happy wedding season! Look fabulous and have fun!

YES! Arcade Fire, "The Suburbs" Wins My Approval

I've always been an Arcade Fire fan but this new album moved me into a rank that I didn't know existed; I'm die hard now. If you've never dabbled in Arcade Fire, check out "The Suburbs," for a beautifully spooky sounds that will make you shout "ROCOCO" to the top of your lungs on your 8am drive to work.

"Funeral" was epic and definitely pioneered the genre of rock anthem on the music scene, but let's face it "Neon Bible," sucked ass. I'm sorry, Arcade Fire is lucky they are a hell of a live band and that their first album was amazing or else they'd be gone in my book. Seriously, this third album is amazing and is definitely worth pirating, or hell buy it! They have this colloquial soothing theme that coincides with their native Montreal roots that displays their vision of the suburbs.

Try sampling their album on their website or itunes. My favorite is to go on youtube and just type in a song.

Sample these bad boys:

"Rococo"
"Sprawl II"
"Empty Room"

I guarantee you will love this album as much as I do... taste it!

HELP! HELP!

I love answering any questions, and this week I received a question from my friend who recently graduated from college. She wants to re-vamp her wardrobe since she is beginning a new chapter in her life. Here is her question:

"what wardrobe staples do you think everyone needs in their wardrobe?? like including accessories, going out shirts and casual??"

I get asked this a lot by my friends and customers at work and here is my answer you can quote me on. Below are going to be my top essentials to have in your closet and your life!

DENIM

Within a girl's wardrobe should appear a great fitting pair of DARK denim. Depending on your shape and preference, dark denim never fails a body. If you're debating on a pair of light jeans or dark jeans, don't be an idiot and go with the darker pair. I don't care how cool the distressed marks are, darker denim is always cleaner, crisp, and sleek! If you're a girl who freaks out about feeling large in a pair of jeans, dark will make you feel sexy, guarantee! I recommend a solid dark boot cut or straight leg. Below are my top picks for dark denim.

TOPS

Tops are so hard to find, and my advice is go with solids if you are unsure or need an easy transition from day to night or work to play. If all else fails you can always sass a solid top with a chunky necklace or sassy blazer, it's that simple!

I feel like every girl should have a nice white/ cream blouse for interviews, dates, work, or even just casual wear. I love this one by DVF. It's beautiful, classic, romantic, and timeless! You definitely want something that you can wear 5 years from now, especially if you are spending a pretty penny on it.

As for going out tops, I make sure the accessories do the talking. If all else fails, go with the little black tank and sassy shoes.

When it comes down to buying other tops, I refrain from too much print unless it's something I absolutely cannot live without. I feel like printed tops should not be something you spend a lot of money on because it's usually associated with a trend or seasonal color. That's why I stress investing in quality solid tops! below are links to my favorites.

BLAZER

Plain and simple... a black blazer. Honestly I cannot emphasize how much a black blazer adds to an outfit! It dresses up anything! Even a v neck and leggings, GET ONE! There are so easy to find, no excuse gf. Just remember to make sure they FIT and are not too long. Long blazers make one appear a lot shorter, so for you petite gals, try finding one that is hip level or higher. Check out my suggestions below.

for you so cal locals: go to H & M so many at a really good deal!

THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS

Ok Ladies, every single girl has to have one of these as her go to plan B for anything. It's a blank canvas to looking your best at a moment's notice. Going on a date... wear it with a cute jacket and some colorful heels. Work? perfect with a blazer and some pumps! It's so easy to play with, again no excuses!

SHOES

I'll keep this concise. Every girl needs a pair of GREAT black heels (going out, work, interviews, events and all that jazz). Nothing says sexy sleek like some fabulous heels, which means no platform heels you hoochies! My favs: Stuarts, Ralph

I also recommend a good boot, I think a flat black boot or a boot with a slight heel does the trick for anything. If you want a brown boot that goes with everything, I suggest going with a cognac color because it seriously goes with EVERYTHING! here are some I love:

ok i know you've all seen every girl in these boots but we all have them for a reason! STEVE MADDEN

ACCESSORIES

As for accessories, there is no real science to this, yet I feel they are the icing on the cake and an extreme staple to looking sassy. My rule is to go with the flow and wear what you want. There are no guidelines except to have FUN with the accessories you wear. I highly recommend buying inexpensive and trendy things you wont feel guilty about if you lose something or break it. I love colorful stuff or things that pop! Remember, accessories make an outfit so make sure it's something that aligns with your personality.

If you need a quick spice to an outfit, add a fun printed scarf, chunky cuff/ bangle, gold watch, poppy ring, or long necklace.

CLOG WILD

When it comes down to summer chic footwear, i'm on board with this clog fetish. Ok, I know they look a little out there/ a flash back from 1994, but this style is freaking hot and quite comfortable too.

My pick are the Jeffrey Campbell "Charli-C" clog. Running at the retail price of $124.95, you will totally fall in love with the comfort and the chicness this style provides with any outfit. I pair my clogs with everything from my flair leg jeans, skinnies, capris, skirts, and my favorite way, a dress with tights.

Below are my top picks for clogs/ clog style platforms... enjoy!

1. Ready to splurge? these are my absolute loves/ if I had $375 to drop, these would be on my feet as we speak. The Elizabeth and James "Maryl" cut out sling back. They have a edgy classic look that will carry on to the next millennium.

2. Fun, fun, FUNKY! I loves these Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent, "Tamara" embroidered clogs, so adorable and not too intimidating to strut in. The embroidery makes this shoe so fun and cute but that peep toe gives it such a sexy edge.

3. Ummm wait, what?! Alice and Olivia's "Hamptons Studded Clogs," are available at Payless for $39.99! So stinking cute and love everything about them (moreover the price). They would look amazing with a dark denim short or chambray dress... just saying.

4. Let's call these your beginner's clogs. Seychelles "Care to Dance," clog is your petite version of the monster platforms I've been suggesting. These are fabulous if you want the clog heel look without breaking your the bank or back!

5. Who said a clog couldn't have a t-strap? The "Sonoma Clog," by Jeffrey Campbell is adorable and perfect for any outfit. I love the fact that the classic t-strap look was incorporated into this style to provide better comfort and classic chicness. I'm all over the tan color in these, AMAZING!

Ask away Girl: DENIM CRISIS!

I need a pair of jeans that will fit my body shape. I have a high waist and really skinny legs. I feel like all the jeans i have are meant to be low, but they are high on me, help me!

Girl, your crisis is going to end! High waisted and skinny legs, I know of some brands and cuts that will fit you like a dream. First off you have a great shape that can be versatile with a lot of jeans, but I recommend staying away from anything high waisted, they are just going to make you frustrated. High waisted jeans on girls with a short torso or a high waist do not flatter that unique body.

You're right in that you stick with a low waisted jean, but there is such thing as "too low." Stay away from anything that is really low cut like Rock and Republics or Frankie B's (ewe). They automatically cut into the hips and serve no purpose in flattering the body other than displaying tacky butt cracks and muffin tops.

Girl, I feel you, I rock the same body type and feel like the brands that fit me best are Paige, Hudson, and J Brand. I own all three and feel like these are the best at offering a lower front rise and a higher rise along the hip and butt. I feel like you would love the Paige "Laurel Canyons," Hudson signature boot cut, or my personal favorite, J Brand "Heartbreaker." I love J Brands because they have a thinner circumference around the thighs compared to other brands which is great because you wont have to worry about the fabric around them stretching out so much.

I hope these tips help you! It's not hard to find the perfect fit for your body type. You just got to look and try on and never be afraid to ask for help!

MGMT "Congratulations"... Not What I expected

Like any other indie kid I'm obsessed with MGMT and think they have such a funky unique beat that makes me want to strut. But this new "Congratulations," not necessarily what I expected.

The cover of the album deceived me because I thought it was again going to give me this postmodern 80's electronic sound that was like their previous album, but to the fifth power. No it was definitely not that and instead I thought I was listening to a beat that sounded like futuristic surfer music from the 60's. I can't hate such a great band for sounding different than their previous album, I'm all for praising individuality, but I was not expecting this.

Don't get me wrong, I like the album, in fact I loved it, but I was completely sideswiped when I heard mellow and echoing songs. I even found myself scrolling through hoping to hear something that can replace my obsession with "Electric Feel" or "Kids," but nothing could replace those hard core beats.

For a song worth downloading off the album, I recommend "It's Working." It's fun and gives that nostalgic 1960's west coast surfer vibe with a twist of hipster modernity. But anyone can go onto MGMT's official website and listen to the entire album for free.

All in all, I like this album, let's give it a 3 out of 5 stars... yeah that works.

ILLUMINATE ME: Revlon Illuminator Success!

Of course I'm an E! junkie and saw Gulianna Rancic rave "throw away that blush, it's all about the GLOW!" to make my face glow rather than look rosy. While flipping through some magazines I kept seeing Jessica Biel's perfectly glowing cheeks in a Revlon Illuminator ad, so I figured, "why not!"

Let me tell you, I was debating on trying this or the Nars "Liquid Orgasm" illuminator, but for $29, I wasn't ready for it, or impressed. So I went with the next best thing and tried Revlon's version. By the look of my usual Target isle, there were only 5 left in stock so that was already a sign that it should be good. It was either a darker bronze or a light natural bronze. I went with the light because I refuse to use a darker bronze on my face (Snookie ruined that for me).

And obviously, I was born with no patience and had to rip open the packaging and test it in my car. It felt soooo nice on my cheeks and looked fantastic! I'm one to not dabble in drug store cosmetics, but let me tell you this stuff is great and only $12! It did not make my face feel oily and one little drop goes a long way.

Ladies this Illuminator works like magic and will make you cheeks look like they belong to a sun kissed goddess! It's beautiful on and will glam up any look from colorul spring eyes, or just a clean slate with no make up. I swear you will be satisfied and in love!
